Chiltern Rangers are thanking volunteers with a gift that gives back to High Wycombe.
Community
The volunteers helping care for local woodlands, chalk streams and green spaces are being recognised with a thank you that also supports High Wycombe businesses.
The community interest company runs more than 60 projects across 120 sites in the Chiltern National Landscape and beyond, with volunteers contributing more than 22,000 hours during 2025-26 alone.
From clearing scrubland and planting wildflowers to protecting habitats and caring for urban green spaces, volunteers play a huge part in the work Chiltern Rangers do every week.
Now, volunteers recognised through awards like Volunteer of the Season and Volunteer of the Year receive a Shop Wycombe Gift Card to spend with businesses across High Wycombe town centre and Eden Shopping Centre.
Supporting Local
Diana Crawcour, Business Manager at Chiltern Rangers, said the change felt like a much better fit for the organisation and its volunteers.
“We used to use Amazon Gift Cards to thank our volunteers but this didn’t fit with our values or support our local community,” she said.
“Our volunteers range from young people undertaking work experience to people in their 90s, and there’s something for everyone with the Shop Wycombe Gift Card.
Volunteer presentations often happen during weekly sessions, usually alongside a cup of tea and a slice of cake.
“It’s a really lovely moment,” Diana added. “Our volunteers never expect anything, so they’re always genuinely grateful to receive the gift card.”
Volunteer Sarah Ronan, who helps with conservation work including scrub clearance and wildflower planting, said receiving the award was a proud moment.
“It felt fantastic to be recognised as Volunteer of the Season,” she said.
“I spent my Shop Wycombe Gift Card on coffee and cake in town, which was lovely. It’s such a good idea because it supports local businesses too.”
The Shop Wycombe Gift Card, led by HWBIDCo, can be spent with more than 60 businesses across the town, from favourite independents to well-known brands.
Susan Hynard, CEO at HWBIDCo, said: “The Chiltern Rangers team and volunteers do such brilliant work for our communities and green spaces, so it’s lovely to see them being recognised in a way that also supports our town centre.
“The Shop Wycombe Gift Card is all about celebrating local, and this is such a great example of organisations supporting both people and businesses in High Wycombe.”
