We’re on the hunt for community heroes to help with our annual Team-up 2 Clean-up event which takes place on Thursday March 19th.
We need volunteers to join the BID team and Chiltern Rangers as we take to the streets of High Wycombe to tackle issues such as litter, graffiti and fly-tipping. The annual BID spring clean – which officially launched last year – takes place as part of our on-going commitment to making High Wycombe town centre brighter and cleaner, and aims to inspire more people from the community, local businesses and voluntary groups to lend their support and help tidy up their town.
Sparkle
In addition to general spring-cleaning activities, this year’s event will include Chiltern Rangers tidying up flower beds and offering free birdbox making workshops, whilst waste management company SERCO will be giving kids and families the opportunity to learn more about recycling and sustainability. We’ll also add some extra sparkle to the event by unveiling our new summer bunting and giving away sweets and eco-friendly canvas bags to local shoppers.
Volunteers can sign up for either the morning or afternoon session on Thursday 19th March – with each session lasting approximately an hour and a half. Participants can also take part by showing up at our HWBIDCo gazebo, which will be located in the High Street just outside Little Market House. Volunteers will be briefed fully before their session and lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Partnership working
Discussing this year’s event, BID Manager Melanie Williams said: “This is a fantastic initiative and a wonderful example of partnership working. We’re committed to making the town centre a cleaner, greener and more vibrant place for our local businesses, shoppers and residents. We’re delighted to once again team up with Chiltern Rangers to help deliver this project, and make High Wycombe town centre as well managed, attractive and welcoming as possible.”
John Shaw, Managing Director of Chiltern Rangers said “Chiltern Rangers is delighted to once again partner with HWBIDCo to help clean up the town centre this spring.
We are getting ahead of Great British Spring Clean where everyone needs to do their bit to make a difference to our planet – and it starts right here in our hometown. The plastics we pick up today will be prevented from ending up inside our precious oceanic wildlife. If you want to give a hand even for an hour please see www.chilternrangers.co.uk or email info@melaniew4.sg-host.com.”
