Medieval May Fayre & Mayor Weighing a Resounding Success


High Wycombe, May 25th, 2024 – The historic streets of High Wycombe came alive with the vibrant celebration of the annual ‘Mayor Making’ event, a cherished tradition since 1678. The unique custom, which involves the town’s dignitaries being weighed-in on traditional ceremonial scales, once again captivated attendees. This ritual, held each time a new town mayor is elected, serves as a symbolic measure of the officials’ integrity and is kept alive only in High Wycombe.

Attendees enjoyed a myriad of activities celebrating High Wycombe’s traditions, including Civil War re-enactors and musket shooting drills.
