Make Safe and Secure

Safer, cleaner, greener

High Wycombe has some beautifully historic streets and buildings but these are often forgotten under the daily grind of a modern town centre. We install hanging baskets, put up seasonal bunting and create attractive green spaces within the town centre. All our projects are ‘added-value’ – meaning they would not otherwise be provided by the local authority.

In addition to helping our town to look nicer, we also keep High Wycombe safe. We employ a full-time Business Engagement Coordinator to run our Business Security Partnership, and our Shopwatch and Pubwatch schemes have over 100 active members.

By raising the bar in terms of how our town is managed, we can ensure businesses see the benefits of having an attractive place to trade, whilst the wider community experiences a greener, brighter, safer place to live, work and shop.

HWBIDCo safe and secure initiative

Safe and Secure

We run vital support services for businesses through the DISC app and Radio Scheme and run Shopwatch and Pubwatch membership groups. We employ a scheme Co-ordinator and have achieved Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) accreditation to enable an increasing number of retailers access to the scheme.

Night-time Economy

We support Thames Valley Police, The Community Hub, All Saints Church and Street Angels in promoting a safe and fun night out in High Wycombe. We use events, campaigns and intelligence gathering to increase visitation and support our licenced premises. In addition, we bring High Wycombe campaigns such as ‘Best Bar None’ and the ‘Women’s Night Safety Charter’ as well as responding to emerging issues as they arise.

Anti Social Behaviour

We work with Thames Valley Police through the Town Centre Partnership and Regeneration Board to resolve ASB issues and improve the perception of the town centre. We have installed contactless giving points in the town centre to deter begging and raise vital funds for relevant support charities.

Purple Flag

Our plans to achieve Purple Flag status for the town were delayed due to Covid. We plan to collaborate with partners to achieve this status and promote a safe and welcoming environment for visitors during a night out in the town centre.

Pubwatch is a crime-reducing partnership run by BID members and facilitated by HWBIDCo. The scheme aims to make High Wycombe a safer place to live, work and visit.

Shopwatch is a crime-reducing partnership run by BID members and facilitated by HWBIDCo. The scheme links local retailers and security staff by informing members in the area of potential offender’s descriptions and movements.
