High Wycombe gears up for an action packed final few months of the year, as the town centre welcomes a host of socially-distanced activations right up until Christmas!

As we wave goodbye to a sunny Summer, the end of this crazy year is in sight…but we’ve been busy making plans for the town centre, to celebrate this Autumn & Winter in the best way possible – right up until Christmas!

With social-distancing at the forefront of everyone’s minds, this year’s activities will look a little different, but there’s still plenty of fun and ‘days out’ for all the family to enjoy.

Vegan Market

Sadly we have had to postpone our Vegan Market and have tentatively rescheduled the event for Sunday 6th December. The event will take place in High Wycombe high Street with 30+ specialist stalls from the across the UK showcasing a huge array of healthy eats, artisan savouries, sweet bakes, craft cheeses, handmade cosmetics & ethical clothing.

Enchanted Wonderland

Christmas just isn’t complete without a visit to see Santa! Taking place in the Chiltern Shopping Centre, this interactive Christmas experience gives the traditional Santa’s grotto an overdue make-over. December dates are set to be released soon and information on tickets can be found here

Christmas Cinema

Festive film buffs will also be in for a huge treat with a GIANT LED CINEMA SCREEN popping up in Frogmoor from Thursday 17th to Wednesday 23rd December. The ‘Festive Film Club’ will be screening two Christmas classics each day at 12noon & 2pm, featuring all the greats including Elf, Polar Express, Home Alone & more. Screenings will be FREE to attend for all and seating will be available – so grab a fluffy blanket and join in for some festive family fun.

Finally, on Saturday 19th December, the Guildhall will play host to a special ‘Spin & Win – Festive Wheel of Fortune’ from 11am – 4pm, with shoppers trying their luck to win Christmas goodies galore. Simply show a receipt obtained from a town centre shop or restaurant that day, and take a spin – every player is a guaranteed winner, but will you hit the festive jackpot?

Chief Executive of HWBIDCo, Melanie Williams, is excited for the coming months. “We’ve put huge consideration into our calendar for the remainder of 2020, balancing the need for social distancing with engaging and exciting activations. Whilst it’s been a tough year for everyone, we want to continue celebrating High Wycombe – from roadshow tours, pop up markets and even a giant outdoor cinema this Christmas, there’s so much going on – we’re excited to welcome the community into the heart of the town centre this Autumn & Winter.”

Steve Bowles, Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Town Centre Regeneration, said: “I’m very pleased that, despite the coronavirus pandemic, residents and visitors to High Wycombe will still be able to enjoy a range of activities and events over the next few months. From Ghost Walks to a Vegan Market to the Lights Experience, there’s definitely something for everyone.”
